Hygienic & Sterile Hose
The Siligiene® lined silicone hose has been specifically developed to minimise the risk of contaminating the fluid or air carried by the hose with trace-level extractable materials found in conventional silicones, such as siloxanes, while still delivering the full service benefits expected from Samco/Silflex silicone hoses. It is suitable for a wide range of chemical fluid and gas transfer applications where contamination must be strictly controlled. In addition, it meets the demands of motorsport, high-performance bikes and cars, as well as bus, truck, and rail industry requirements, and is also suitable for use in hygienic and sterile environments.

Marks can be added to the hose to specify where components are to be placed such as clips helping speed up installation.

High temperature, fire retardant silicone to BS 6853. Food & Drug and Water Council approved materials are also available.

Construction
The hose consists of a Siligiene® translucent silicone liner, overlaid with plies of silicone reinforced with polyester fabric. The number of reinforcing plies varies with the hose bore to meet the required pressure rating. These plies are made from knitted polyester cloth impregnated with silicone. The hose features a smooth internal bore for unrestricted flow and a smooth silicone outer skin for complete integrity. A convoluted outer surface is also available as an alternative when increased flexibility is required.
For water transfer applications, the hose is constructed using plies of silicone reinforced with polyester fabric and lined with Water Regulations Approved white silicone. The number of plies will vary depending on the working pressure, bore size, and required wall thickness.
General use
This tubing has been developed to meet the quality requirements and exacting standards of modern pharmaceutical and biotechnical industries, particularly the need to withstand extreme temperatures and the high wear rates associated with peristaltic pumps. It is extremely resistant to ozone, UV exposure, and a wide range of chemicals, and contains no sulphur or acid-producing extracts that could leach into the product.
Special bore and wall thicknesses, hardness grades, colours, and cross-sections can be supplied subject to minimum order quantities. Repetitive cutting and fabrication to precise tolerances are also available to meet specific manufacturing needs. All stock range dimensions are manufactured to BS3734 tolerances.
Pressure Range
The Silgiene® mandrel built polyester reinforced hygienic hose is manufactured to meet a standard pressure safety factor of 3:1. (Please advise of your anticipated operating pressures before ordering). For applications requiring ‘high’ operating pressures see operating pressures below.

The Silgiene® mandrel built wire reinforced hygienic hose range is designed to operate in environments with working pressures of between 6 and 10 bar working or full vacuum. Please advise before ordering of any requirement beyond 10 bar. Standard pressure safety factor, 3:1.

The ingredients used to formulate this silicone rubber are compositionally compliant with FDA regulation 21CFR177.2600, Rubber articles intended for repeated use in contact with food and the BfR recommendation XV “Silicone”.
